Misjudged - Misjudged #1

Sarah Elizabeth

Synopsis

MisjudgedIt was one night.

One night of pure intimacy, with a guy she knew nothing about, that couldn’t have prepared her for the next chapter in her life.

But will it be for better, or for worse?

Eighteen year old Alexis Harper is a smart, attractive and ambitious young woman with great friends, a doting father and a scholarship at one of Washington State’s most prestigious Performing Arts Colleges.

When the mysterious stranger makes his arrival in her life, she’s captivated by him. She’s intrigued by his past and more so by what the future could possibly hold for them.

Meet Brandon Taylor.

A damaged and confused twenty year old who is grieving for the life he once had.

He didn’t think for one moment that he could ever find happiness, and he didn’t want to. He was happy living within the high walls he’d barricaded around himself. It felt safe.

When Alexis and Brandon’s worlds collide, nobody could have prepared them for the emotional rollercoaster they were about to board together.

With love, loss, deceit and betrayal abound, it’s pretty hard to trust even those closest to you, as both Brandon and Alexis are soon to find out.

***Suitable for 18 years + due to language and sexual content***

The Review

This book was selected for me to read by the fans that join many of my virtual book clubs. Misjudged had me intrigued from the moment Alexis met the mysterious blue eyes. Sarah has done an amazing job at capturing your attention from the very first chapter of this book. The mystery of blue eyes draws you in making sure that you want to read on and find out so much more about him.

Alexis is a young girl who has had her heart broken by her first love who cheated on her she meets "blue eyes" and becomes mesmerized by him instantly; she finds herself behaving in ways she never expected to, doing things she would never even dream of. As quick as she falls for him he's gone and this is what peaks your interest in to Mr blue eyes. Is he a bad ass with a reputation or is there a troubled individual hiding beneath the surface.

Sarah has done a wonderful job at keeping Brandon mysterious even after we establish who he is, he has this dark secret that we only see snippets of as when she wants us to know more about him. Sarah certainly keeps us on our toes through out the book. I do feel that I got very frustrated by there "relationship" if you could call it that, Alexis would throw a tantrum or over analyses everything and then it would end in them not knowing how to take it from there. I do suppose though that this is true to a young girl of her age. There were times where I wanted to knock both of there heads together to make them see sense however if Sarah is able to gain this reaction from me then the book is clearly well written.

Brandon stay mysterious and I believe I have this love hate relationship with him one moment I completely sympathize with him but the next I want to punch him. I want him to see sense and realize that although he has been hard done to he needs to progress forward with his life rather than letting his life control his future. At times the way in which he treats Alexis (Someone who clearly cares for him) makes my blood boil. There were times where the story really did pull on my heart strings and I wanted nothing more than to hold Alexis in a motherly way and tell her all would be OK, and at times do her dirty work for her!

There chemistry was off the charts through out the book but for me as an avid adult romance reader there was just not enough steamy scenes for me, and I really am clutching at straws here to give some form of constructive criticism. I'm hoping the next book brings me lots more steam and emotion! OOoooh and I think I may have to worn you there is a cliffhanger ... I personally love cliffhangers so for me this had me and the first thing I had to do was message Sarah and my Virtual book club! I could not believe it .... However I don't want to give anything away so I will not disclose any more.

Thank you to all the ladies who were about of our virtual book club and a huge thank you to Sarah Elizabeth for allowing us to use her book and been present through out the entire thing to speak with all the ladies. Sarah you have been amazing and are an inspiration!
