Sloans Surrender - The Morgan sister's #2

Eliza Brown

Synopsis

Sloans SurrenderWhat do you do when you find yourself falling for the kind of man you never in a million years imagined yourself with? How do you keep your distance when everything inside of you is craving the one thing you don’t deserve? When someone is as broken as I am, they don’t get the happily ever after. That kind of thing is reserved for people like my sister Stella, people who deserve it.
He thinks I’m worth loving, he thinks I’m special. But he doesn’t know the demons in my past. He doesn’t know the things I’ve done, to protect my family, to protect myself

The Review

Where to start? I'm going to give this book 3.5 stars but I am unable to do this on the current format of the website. I'm not sure this was a book for me .... To begin with its more of a "Love at First sight" book and I like my characters to build up so much chemistry that I'm bursting at the seams with anticipation and I just didn't get this from this book. I read the first in the series which was Saving Stella and I felt that maybe this book deserved to be more of a full length novel rather than a novella. I was really looking forward to the next installment. Eliza has potential but again the plot felt to rushed for my personal liking. I felt as though there wasn't enough time for me to build up my emotions towards the characters. I like to feel as though I know the characters and can relate to them on a personal level.

This book carries on where Saving Stella left of however this book is now following the story of Sloan her sister. We met Sloan in book one and she was the hard faced woman who would let nothing or nobody effect her. In this book we follow her story and she falls in love with Dex. I struggle with how quickly she appears to fall for him considering she struggles to let her own sister know her darkest secrets. This could be that i don't have any personal experience to pull from on this matter. The story was about her building of trust and wanting to disclose this dark, deep rooted past but I felt like it all ended to quickly.

On a positive note Eliza Brown has taken on board some aspects that were pulled from my previous review and this seams to have worked very well...The flashbacks seem more emotion filled than previously. Eliza still holds great potential and I believe that maybe this story was not for me. I like Sloan as a character and if I had managed to build a connection with her like when I have read other books she would be a character I would admire. I feel that her experiences and her story deserved to be longer and more in depth but again this is a personal preference of mine. The story has great potential and maybe I wasn't feeling it as it was only 184 pages; I more than likely wanted it to last longer which is why I am so undecided when it comes to my review. Another highlight for Eliza was that there are less typos and errors in this book compared to the first. Another bonus for me was that the intimate scenes are hot and if i was feeling connected with the characters I certainly would have needed a cold shower.

Overall I think that this book just wasn't for me. These are my personal preferences and opinions on the book and there are many people who have read it have thoroughly enjoyed the book, rating it highly. Thank you to Eliza for sending me a copy to look over and thank you so much for taking on board my opinions it can't be an easy thing having someone go over your work with a fine tooth comb. Please do feel free to check this book out for yourself though and let me know your thoughts on this book.
