They struggle to overcome their issues and soon Chase is after her again, fixated on staking his "claim" with a startling revelation that links both the past and present. Can they find happiness with each other or is their too much to overcome? Only time will tell if they can learn to let go.

The Review

I read the first book Learning to Trust before I began my blogging adventure and I have to say I fell in love with Garrett and Laurels journey, they we both haunted by there pasts and couldn't find it in themselves to move on from what they had experienced before they met each other. In this book their journey continues and they find each other wanting to be with each other and loving one another to pulling away from each other. The second book in the series carries off where Learning to Trust finished with Laurel in the hospital, I'm not going to disclose any more just in case you haven't had the opportunity to read the first in the series.

When Garrett first met Laurel she was broken and lacking confidence but her underlying strong head lied buried beneath her then she meets Garrett who helped to bring it out. Garrett was always in control with everything in his life he was troubled by his past and built up walls to protect himself. He never thought himself capable of loving will he finally let his guard down with Laurel? Will it be worth it? I love the Characters in this story they stay true to themselves although at times I wanted to shout at them and tell them what was happening right in front of them. I felt myself wanting to shout at Garrett, tell him to get a hold of himself and open up! This is a good indication of how much the storyline draws you in.

The previous book ended on a cliffhanger which had your heart in your throat wanting to scream at Cynthia for putting you through all that emotion with no end in sight but this edition to the series continues with the angst and passion of the two characters. I love that Laurel isn't your typical damsel in distress and that she knows her own mind; I love the mind games she plays with Garrett at times, it truly shows how much of her independence she hangs on to and that she truly knows which of his buttons to press. There was a small cliffhanger to continue in to the next book but not one that had you wanting to throw your device at the wall, I can live with this cliffy where as the last I was horrified and truly felt as lost as Garrett did.

This isn't your typical girl meets rich, troubled boy and they sail of in to the sun set. This has a right amount of action, passion and emotion intricately wound through the book drawing you in to its spell. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to finding where there story leads from here. There is so much more I would like to say about this book but I really do not want to give to much away especially if you haven't read the first book. I will add the links for both for you and if you haven't, now is really the time to get drawn in to Cynthia P O'neill's writing.

I would like to thank Cynthia for the opportunity to read and review the second book after expressing how much I thoroughly enjoyed the first installment.
